Start early
I’m reading Consumer Reports’ “Money Adviser”, a great little monthly newsletter that’s educational and interesting to read. Some startling points:
“The majority of Americans have saved less than $25,000 for retirement and 29% have less than $1,000!”
Starting early is important, even if it’s a small amount:
“If you saved $2000/year from age 16 through 26, and then NEVER saved any more toward retirment, you would have $410k at age 65. But if you waited until age 30 to start investing the same amount, you would have to keep saving until age 65 and would have only $294k.”
